Montana Trooper (08.02.2010 15:02h): 1961 Ford Z-Code Sedan

This 1961 Ford is a 390 Z-Code car which was updated with dual carbs and 12″ x 3″ brakes in 1962 for duty as a Montana State Partol car. It wears a Tasca Ford badge on the trunk and also the classic black and white scheme, but aside from the red lamps in the grille it looks like it would be street legal. The car was shown on Saturday at the Corvette and High Performance Meet In Puyallup, Washington where it had the sign below stating an $11k OBO price tag. Special thanks to BaT reader Charlie G. who was ... [Link] [Cache]

Hibernating (08.02.2010 02:28h): 1962 Fiat Abarth Bialbero

This 1962 Abarth Bialbero 1000 is collecting dust and sitting on a couple of flat tires in an East Coast garage. The car was supposedly purchased from California and had a decent re-spray about 15 years ago. It runs very strong and shifts fine according to the seller. That funky Abarth appeal is totally intact thanks to covered headlights and a propped rear decklid. Find it here on eBay in Berlin, Maryland. Special thanks to BaT reader Michael L. for this submission! The broad white body stripe on the driver side looks like it might be a decal that belongs ... [Link] [Cache]

Swabian Sled (04.02.2010 17:54h): 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL 4.5

Often overshadowed by the bigger-engined and more collectible 300SEL 6.3, the 280SEL 4.5 is a V8-powered classic Mercedes bargain. If you can find a nice one like this silver example that hasn’t been driven into the ground, they are reasonably quick and live up to the old-school Mercedes reputation for over-engineering and durability. Most sellers of classic Mercedes of this vintage and condition ask prices into the five-figure range just by nature of their three-pointed star. Find this realistically priced example just listed yesterday here on Craigslist in Beaverton, Oregon for $7,900 obo. The key external difference between the W108 ... [Link] [Cache]

Blue-Plate Survivor (03.02.2010 22:40h): 1972 BMW Bavaria

The E3 BMW was popularly known in the U.S. as simply a Bavaria, but they actually came in a number of forms: 2500, 2800, 3.0s, 3.0si, 2.8L, 3.3Li. Solid E3s are increasingly difficult to find, but this one has remained very well preserved over its California life. This one has the preferred 4-speed manual transmission and straight panels with a re-spray which is starting to fade. Find it here on eBay in Moreno Valley, California where it started off at $100 and no reserve. The “Bavaria” trim level was actually the lower-line E3, with vinyl interior and a longer list ... Twin-Engined 4×4 (03.02.2010 03:44h): 1966 Twini Cooper S

This sweet 1966 Mini Cooper would be worthy of a feature here on BaT even if it only had one engine. But this “Twini” has two 1275cc S-spec engines and just as many straight-cut transaxles giving it all wheel drive. Skeptical? A similar concept was entered in the 1963 Targa Florio and piloted by none other than Paul Frere and John Whitmore. This one is located and registered in Florida and is offered here on MiniMania for $45k. This UK site shows numerous pictures of early Twini prototypes and claims that one of them nearly took the life of John ... [Link] [Cache]

2/1/2010 Update: This listing has been deleted from Craigslist by the seller and two commenters tell us that the car has sold. We may never know for sure, but that car looked like a great deal. From 2/1/2010: This 1959 Triumph TR3-A roadster is offered by a seller who needs to unload the car ASAP and it includes a factory hardtop. The red/black combo is a good one and the steel wheels with hubcaps look great. This one isn’t a show car but if the body and frame are straight it is likely worth this money and then some. Find ...
